Merseyside Region VI Forum

">

Bradbury Fields are hosting the Merseyside Sight Loss Council’s VI Forum for the Merseyside Region. This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone in Merseyside who is blind or partially sighted to set the agenda for The Sight Loss Council for 2020. You say, we do.

There are Sight Loss Councils across the UK with the aim to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people.

Sight Loss Councils are made up blind and partially sighted people. The members tackle local issues that affect people with visual impairments, working with public, private and voluntary organisations to improve the accessibility of their services. More information on Sight Loss Councils in your area can be found here: www.sightlosscouncils.org.uk

Launched in March 2019, the Merseyside Sight Loss Council has brought together blind and partially sighted people across the region. Each volunteer has selected a priority area to focus on from our themes of Education, Employment, Technology, Transport, Sport & Leisure and Health & Social Care.

The Merseyside Sight Loss Council are working on projects in the following areas:

  • Employment – The team are working in partnership with Jigsaw Coaching, Bradbury Fields, Visionary and Liverpool Football Club to deliver an event around employment for people with sight loss. Part of the session will feature an enlightenment segment with workshops for employers to promote a diverse and inclusive workforce.
  • Health – The council are liaising with the Local Eye Health Network (LEHN). We hope to have a Sight Loss Council member represent the blind and partially sighted patient’s voice on their committee.
  • Transport – The council have been invited by the Mersey Travel Transport Committee to deliver a workshop on inclusion.

The Merseyside Regions VI Forum will take place at Bradbury Fields, The Bradbury Centre, Youens Way, Liverpool. L14 2EP.
